Backward Pumping Kneading Block

The backward pumping kneading block consists of staggered kneading disks, with the helix angle formed by the staggered arrangement consistent with the spiral direction of the reverse screw element. Its design integrates staggered disks and reverse threads to achieve backward material conveying. It extends the material residence time in the barrel, increasing filling degree and material pressure, and significantly enhancing mixing efficiency.

Working Principle
  • Reverse structure creates conveying resistance: With an overall left-handed reverse spiral arrangement opposite to forward conveying elements, it forms natural resistance to the axial forward flow of materials, forcibly slows down material advancement and creates conditions for intensive mixing.
  • Forced shear & stretching achieves dispersive mixing: Materials are forced to pass through the gaps and edges between kneading discs, undergoing repeated squeezing, shearing, folding and stretching. This efficiently breaks solid agglomerates such as pigments, fillers and additives to achieve fine dispersive mixing.
  • Increases material fill degree and extends residence time: The conveying resistance significantly raises the material fill degree in upstream screw channels and prolongs the effective residence time of materials in the mixing zone, providing sufficient duration for full melting, plasticization and uniform component mixing.
  • Builds local high pressure and stabilizes process operation: It forms stable local melt pressure in the element area, which not only strengthens inter-melt contact and mass transfer to improve distributive mixing, but also acts as a melt barrier to block unmelted particles and ensure uniform and stable downstream melt quality.
  • Stream splitting & recombination enhances melt homogenization: Multiple kneading discs arranged at a fixed staggering angle continuously split, redirect and reorganize melt streams, disrupt laminar flow, promote full blending of components with different compositions and temperatures, and improve the overall uniformity of melt temperature and composition.
