90 ° Neutral Kneading Block

90° is the maximum conventional staggering angle for kneading blocks, also known as right-angle kneading blocks. The discs are arranged almost perpendicular to the axial direction, with nearly zero active forward conveying capacity; materials are pushed through entirely by upstream pressure. It delivers the highest shear intensity and dispersive mixing capacity among all standard angles, serving as a dedicated intensive dispersive mixing component that can only be arranged in short sets.

  • Staggering Angle
    A larger angle leads to higher flow path tortuosity, weaker forward conveying capacity and longer material residence time in the mixing zone. Shear intensity rises with the angle, dispersive mixing capacity is gradually enhanced, while the proportion of distributive mixing decreases accordingly. Meanwhile, shear heat input increases synchronously, raising the risk of material overheating degradation.
  • Kneading Disc Thickness
    Under the same mixing length, thinner discs correspond to higher disc quantity and higher shear frequency applied to the material, delivering more outstanding dispersive mixing effect but more concentrated shear heat input. Thicker discs provide a longer action interval per shear, more sufficient squeezing and stretching of the material, more remarkable distributive mixing and melting plasticating effect, and relatively stronger conveying capacity.
  • Number of Kneading Discs
    More discs lead to longer mixing action length, synchronously increased total material residence time and total shear input, as well as improved mixing uniformity and dispersion sufficiency. However, excessive discs will cause significantly increased conveying resistance, reduced throughput, and obvious shear heat accumulation, which easily leads to material overheating degradation and performance decline. Under the same axial length, the number of discs is inversely proportional to disc thickness, and thin disc units contain more discs.
