90 ° Neutral Kneading Block

Product Name: 90 ° Neutral Kneading Block
Model:φ15 mm ~φ350mm
Applicable Brands:Most well-known extruders on the market
Material: Tool steel, HIP, stainless steel, nickel-based alloy, cobalt-based alloy, etc.
Properties:Wear-resisting, Corrode-resisting and durable
Structure Characteristics:
The 90° kneading block consists of multiple sets of staggered kneading disks with a 90° staggering angle, where the edges of adjacent disks are vertically interleaved, forming a strong spatial barrier structure. Its flight spacing and disk thickness are designed according to the specifications of the matching screw. It usually adopts symmetric or asymmetric tooth profiles, and some models can integrate reverse spiral leads, combining shearing and local backward conveying functions. The overall structure is compact, machined integrally from high-strength alloy steel to ensure structural stability under high-torque working conditions.
Functions:
Strong Shearing and Dispersive Mixing: The large 90° staggering angle causes materials to undergo intense radial shearing and axial splitting between the disks, capable of breaking agglomerated particles (such as carbon black and inorganic fillers) to the micrometer level. Its dispersion efficiency is 40%-60% higher than that of 45° kneading blocks, making it particularly suitable for forced dispersion of high-viscosity materials.
Local Backpressure Regulation: The "throttling effect" formed by the interleaved disks generates local high pressure (up to 15-20MPa) in the mixing section, extending the material residence time in this area (2-3 times longer than that of 30° kneading blocks) and promoting the melting of refractory components and interface fusion between components.
Suppression of Axial Channeling: The vertically staggered structure blocks the direct axial flow of materials along the screw, forcing materials to repeatedly flip in the disk gaps, improving radial mixing uniformity, and reducing component segregation caused by flow rate differences.
Applications:
Processing of High-Fill Composites: In fields such as glass fiber-reinforced PP and carbon nanotube-modified engineering plastics, it can uniformly disperse fillers with a filling amount of over 30%, avoiding the decline in product mechanical properties caused by agglomeration.
Compatibilization Mixing of Incompatible Systems: For incompatible systems such as PP/PE blends and nylon/polyester composites, it destroys the phase interface through strong shearing, promotes the combination of compatibilizers and the interfaces of the two phases, and improves the impact strength and compatibility of the blends.
Mixing of High-Viscosity Hot Melt Adhesives/Elastomers: It effectively solves the dispersion problem under high viscosity for the mixing of hot melt adhesive bases (such as EVA and SBS) and functional additives (flame retardants, tackifiers), ensuring the consistency of the product's melt viscosity.
Enhancement of Reactive Extrusion: In reactive extrusion processes such as polyamide (PA) polymerization and polyester (PET) viscosity increase, it accelerates molecular chain scission and recombination reactions through strong shearing and long residence time, improving the uniformity of product molecular weight distribution.
With its strong shearing characteristics, the 90° kneading block has become a core component in high-demand mixing scenarios, but it needs to be coordinated with screw speed control (usually 200-500rpm) to avoid material degradation caused by excessive shearing.
